Spotlight Upon Unsung Heroes: Veterans of US Armed Forces, Defenders of the Home of the Brave and Land of the Free By Wilbur Thirkield (Bill) Titus August 2007 For the last several weeks we have placed the spotlight of recognition and praise upon individuals whom we consider to be heroes. This week we present to you the Armed Forces of the United States of America as a group for this honor. We want to show our troops and veterans that we recognize and appreciate the ultimate price that they have paid and are paying by protecting the interests and lives of Americans. Recently, I received a letter which reminded me that in a few weeks we will observe a moment of silence and remember September 11, when nearly six years ago thousands lost their lived and our troops answered the call of duty. As they have done throughout our history, they have resisted danger at home and abroad. They are now engaged in the global war on terrorism. They are experiencing "multiple deployments, incredible family hardships and increasing risks." They need our support. By golly. let's give it to them! If I seem overly sentimental, blame it on my patriotism!
