Freestone County, Texas Bios Texas Senate Resolution #1144 By: Turner S.R. No. 1144 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, East Central Texans are widely known for their 1-3 civic pride and social involvement; and 1-4 WHEREAS, On April 24, 1993, Ernest Busby of Teague was 1-5 named the winner of the E. E. Wheat Award during the Freestone 1-6 County National Association for the Advancement of Colored People 1-7 Freedom Fund Banquet; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Mr. Busby was presented with the award by 1-9 Teague Branch President Joycie Burns; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Each year the award is presented to a person 1-11 who is judged as exhibiting the outstanding characteristics of 1-12 E. E. Wheat, one of the founders of the National Association for 1-13 the Advancement of Colored People branch in Freestone County; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Mayor of Teague, Ernest Busby is a dynamic man who 1-15 has been active in county and regional affairs for years; and 1-16 WHEREAS, This prominent citizen has given tirelessly of his 1-17 talents to his community; and 1-18 WHEREAS, His meritorious work and exemplary devotion to 1-19 his town and county have earned him the admiration and esteem of 1-20 the citizens of Teague and Freestone County; and 1-21 WHEREAS, A gracious and charming gentleman, Mayor Busby is 1-22 well known for his honesty and integrity; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-1 73rd Legislature, hereby recognize Ernest Busby on the momentous 2-2 occasion of his being named winner of the E. E.
