Freestone County, Texas Bios Texas Senate Resolution #1225 1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1225 1-3 WHEREAS, The Texas Senate is pleased to congratulate 1-4 Aaron Ananias Butcher and the former Cathelyn Francis Dawson 1-5 on the auspicious occasion of their 60th anniversary; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Aaron and Cathelyn were married on Thursday, 1-7 May 13, 1941, in Kirvin, Texas, in Freestone County; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Both Mr. and Mrs. Butcher attended Freestone County 1-9 schools, where they met; Cathelyn was the friend of Aaron's sister, 1-10 Bernice; they were high school sweethearts; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Their marriage was blessed with seven children, two 1-12 of whom, Melvin Butcher and Beverly Jo Butcher Tunstall Malvern, 1-13 have predeceased the parents; the other children are: 1-14 Patricia Ann Butcher Barton, Thelma Mae Butcher Johnson, 1-15 Evelyn Butcher Smith, Seri Butcher Nolan, and Samuel Butcher; 1-16 the anniversary couple is fortunate in that they have 22 1-17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Cathelyn is now a retired housewife, and Aaron 1-19 retired in 1975 from the Rock Island Railroad; he is presently 1-20 an auxiliary policeman in Navarro County and a District Deputy 1-21 of Districts 6 and 7 in Corsicana; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Active in their community in several 2-2 organizations, both are members of the Corsicana branch of 2-3 the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People; 2-4 Cathelyn is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and Aaron 2-5 is the Most Worshipful Master for the Andrew Lodge 112 of 2-6 Corsicana; and 2-7 WHEREAS, Aaron Butcher is a founding and current member 2-8 of the Imperial Gospel Singers; both Mr. and Mrs. Butcher are 2-9 members of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church; and 2-10 WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Cathelyn and Aaron have 2-11 grown stronger as together they have experienced the joys and 2-12 sorrows of life; and 2-13 WHEREAS, By having mutual respect, a sense of humor, a 2-14 zest for life, and an unwavering love for one another, Aaron 2-15 and Cathelyn serve as an outstanding example of a couple with 2-16 a long and successful marriage; and 2-17 WHEREAS, The long and happy union of Mr. and Mrs. Butcher 2-18 is an inspiration to all; now, therefore, be it 2-19 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-20 77th Legislature, hereby recognize Mr. and Mrs. Aaron A.
