No. 27. HEIRS OF L. R. WORTHAM, DECEASED RESOLUTION of THE LEGISLATURE OF TEXAS for The relief of the heirs of L. R. Wortham, deceased. December 17, 1875 - Referred to the Committee on Claims and ordered to be printed. Whereas the store-house and stock of goods of L. R. Wortham, deceased, late of Freestone County, State of Texas, were, on the 12th day of August, A.D. 1868, destroyed by fire, causing a loss to the said L. R. Wortham of about twenty- five thousand dollars; and whereas it is established by competent evidence that said fire was caused by some soldiers of the United States Army : Therefore, Be it resolved by the legistlature of the State of Texas, That our Senators and Representatives in Congress be, and they are hereby, requested to aid in securing the passage of law by the Congress of the United States to compensate the heirs of the said L. R. Wortham, deceased, for said loss. Be it further resolved, That the secretary of state be required to furnish a copy of these resolutions to each of our Senators and Representatives in Congress, as soon as practicable. JNO.
