Freestone County, Texas Schools in the News The Teague Chronicle - Friday, October 5, 1906 [Page: 4] Reunion of Teachers There is to be a reunion of the former teachers and pupils of the old Brewer school Sunday, Oct. 7 at 5 p.m. We are now upon the eve of abandoning the old school building and ground hence a number of ex-teachers and ppulis has suggested this reunion and that photograph be made of the group. Every teacher and student is requested to give us a "write-up" of some incident or historical fact that may have occurred during your association with the school. Your article will be called for at the old school house. We will have also a photograph of the present school. D. D. Peevy [same issue - Page: 5] Prof. David Peevy informed us that his school opened Monday morning with an attendence of 53 scholars. He will teach a month subscription school and on the first of November the free school will open. School is being taught in the union church. [same issue - Page: 8] FREESTONE DOTS People are execting to begin building a school house at this place real soon. We hope they will, for I think it greatly needed. ... I believe the people of the country are able to put up a nice school house. Don't just put up a cheap house and try and make out with it. Turn your money loose and build a house you will be proud of and help build up our country and town. Work will being on the new school building in the near future.
