Fiftieth Reunion Celebrated for FHS Class of 1968

The FHS Class of 1968 celebrated their 50th year Reunion on September 29th at the 
Los Ranchos Mexican Restaurant in Fairfield. Invited guest were from the Class of 
1967. A total of 28 classmates, friends and guest attended.

Class President, George Davis welcomed and thanked everyone for attending and the 
reunion committee of Kelly Tyus, John Fryer, Marie Keaton Battles and Diana Jones 
Hagen.

Acknowledged and honored were the veterans who served in the military: ARMY: James 
Gary Pillians, John Fryer; Terry Walthall and Norman Day; MARINE CORPS: Ricky 
Cannon and Henry Morris; NAVY: Retired Lt. Commander Michael Hoeinghaus and Johnny 
Carroll; AIR FORCE: Buford Eatmon; ARMY NATIONAL GUARD: Kenneth Robinson and MERCHANT 
MARINES: Retired Sr. Engineer James David Willard.

Mr. Davis acknowledged the memory of lost friends from the 1968 Class: Karen 
Harris Bonner, Jimmye Nell Newman Kahrs, Norman Day, Buford Eatmon, Mary Donovan 
Minchew, Henry Morris, Barry Snider, Sue Myers Flandry, Paula Eisen Snider and 
Class Sponsor Mr. LaClaire Williamson.

And from the 1967 Class: Albert Finch Jr., John Carlos Franklin, Glenda Dewey 
Boyer, Linda Mortimer Murphy, Sammie Faye Carter Turner and Judy Pillians Hagler.

The benediction was given by John Fryer. The meal was individually selected from 
the Los Ranchos menu.

Those attending from the Class of 1968 in Fairfield were Kelly Tyus; John Fryer 
and wife Cindy; George Davis and wife Sherry; Connie Watson; Johnny Carroll and 
wife Geneva; Carey Snider Chavers and husband Mark and Janna Marshall Gunter.

Out of town Class of 1968 attending were Diana Jones Hagen of Richmond; Marie 
Keaton Battles of Corsicana; William Lee Carroll of Ennis; Roy Andy of Dallas; 
Beth Newman of Harwood; James Gary Pillians and wife Kathy of Corsicana; Robert 
Rawlings and wife Mary Lou of Corsicana; Kenneth Robinson of Conroe; James David 
Willard and wife Susan of Conroe; Charles York and wife Soakie of Mesquite and 
their guest John E. Finch of Palestine.

Attending from the Class of 1967 were Nadine Ivy Phillips of Fairfield and William 
“Connie” Long of Georgetown.

Class of 1968 members not attending were: Lafayette Bolden, Joe Bond, Susan Bonner 
Kennard, Ricky Cannon, Glenda Cherry Tisdale, Gary Tisdale, Dale Cockerell, Donnie 
Cockerell, Stanley Gregory, Mike Hoeinghaus, JoAnn Johnson Zaccone, Leslie 
Killough, Ray Kurtz, Wanda McClintock, Phillip Orand, Cathy Todd Emmons, Terry 
Walthall and Danny Tate Willard.
