Freestone County, Texas Social [David Strickland has the original] The Fairfield Recorder Thursday, July 20, 1978 - Page 1 Fairfield Lions Club Cleans Up Park At First Meeting The Fairfield Lions Club devoted their first meeting of the 1978-1979 year into cleaning up the Fairfield Lions Club Park on Reunion Grounds and repainting the picnic tables and benches. This was indeed a much needed improvement to the park. At the same time other members were at the Fair Booth installing new counters. These will be painted in time for the Fair. Lion T. L. Miller, who is in charge of the Lions entry in the parade this year announced tht Miss Ramona Spence, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Spence, will represent the Fairfield Lions Club in the parade and Queen's contest this year. President Francis J. Butler was presented with a gold cap wit the Lions insignia and the word President on the cap. Lions Frank Peyton, Jr. and T.L. Miller presented Lion Butler with the cap. The next meeting of the Fairfield Lions will be held at Sam's on the 27th of July at 7:00 p.m. Lion Louis Parks will be in charge of the program.
