Freestone County, Texas Anniversaries [50th Wedding Anniversary of Benjamin Willard and Nancy Elizabeth Yates Willard] Fairfield Recorder newspaper - July 9, 1931 edition "FAIRFIELD COUPLE CELEBRATED TWIN OCCASIONS SUNDAY Fairfield, July 9. On July 5, 1931, the children of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Willard gathered at their home to help him celebrate his 74th birthday which was July 3, also to help with their 47th wedding anniversary. The day was spent in talking over past experiences. Mr. Willard's two sisters, Mrs. Eliza Moore and Mrs. Cina Seale, and Tom Orand, a brother-in-law had the pleasure of enjoying the day with him. The following children were present: Mrs. John Manahan and son Willard and daughter, Verna Mae; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Bonner and children, Lesile, Annie Laura, Ed and Hugh; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bonner and children, Ben, Ernest, Pauline, Carl Yates and Chas. Travis; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Willard and children Herman, Finis Earl; Mr. and Mrs. Colon Willard and children Juanita and Alton Dale; Mrs. Florence Childs and son Wayne; Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Willard and children Doris Pearl and Helen Grace; Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Ritter; a single son, Joe Willard; and the follwing relatives: Mrs. Tom Orand, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Speed; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Crane and Mrs. Annie Willard of Wortham. At the noon hour a table was spread out under the beautiful china tree in the yard, groaning with the good things to eat on it. The birthday cake, white and pink, had the figure 74 on it, made by Mrs. Tommy Willard. Everybody enjoyed the dinner and at a late hour in the afternoon, all had supper and then returned to their home wishing Mr. and Mrs. Willard many happy birthdays and anniversaries. --- a guest"
