July 22 in Dew . . .
Franklin and Thomas wed 

Melissa Mae Franklin became the bride of Tommy Scott Thomas in a candlelight 
wedding ceremony held July 22 at Grace Tabernacle in Dew.

The bride is the daughter of Nelson and Vicki Franklin of Teague, and the groom 
is the son of Doug and Lorri Daniel of Fairfield, and Tommy and Gera Thomas of 
Golden, Texas.

The church and fellowship hall were transformed into a fairy-tale setting after
several days of decorating and months of planning.

The bride wore a princess-style gown that sparkled in the dim light as the 
couple said their vows before 125 of their closest friends and family.

Bridesmaids wore lilac gowns, and all flowers were lilac and pale shades of 
pink and yellow.

A reception followed the ceremony, and guests were served a buffet of fruits, 
vegetables, sandwiches, chocolate-covered strawberries and cherries, mock 
champagne, and strawberry wedding cake. The groom's cake was a chocolate 
"basket" dripping with strawberries.

Both the bride and groom attend Navarro College and work part-time. Following 
a wedding trip to Surfside Beach, the couple have made their home in Teague.
