Freestone County, Texas Weddings Fairfield Recorder - Thursday March 02, 2006 edition Parents announce a May wedding Gayle and Jerry Sheppard are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter Kelly to Danny Wren of Fairfield, son of Sara and Joe Wren of Fairfield. Miss Sheppard is the granddaughter of Patsy and James Phillips of Livingston; Arthur Oates and the late Ruby Oates of Livingston and the late Jess Sheppard. Wren is the grandson of Joyce Bonner and the late Hugh Bonner of Fairfield and Lera and Billy Wren of Fairfield. The bride-to-be is a 2002 graduate of Fairfield high school and will graduate from Texas A&M University - Commerce in May with a bachelor of science degree in early childhood development. The prospective groom is a 1999 graduate of Fairfield high school and graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2004 with a bachelor of science degree in animal science. He is a loan officer at AgriLand Farm Credit Services in Fairfield. Sheppard-Wren vows said Kelly Suzanne Sheppard became the bride of Danny Joe Wren, Jr. at a 6 p.m. ceremony held May 13 at Steward’s Mill Harmony Church. Officiating at the double-ring ceremony was Rev. Benny Mize. The bride is the daughter of Gayle and Jerry Sheppard of Fairfield. She is the granddaughter of James and Patsy Phillips of Livingston, Texas and Arthur and the late Ruby Oates of Livingston. The groom is the son of Sara and Joe Wren of Fairfield. He is the grandson of Joyce Bonner and the late Hugh Bonner of Fairfield, and Billy and Lera Wren of Fairfield. He is the great-grandson of Velma Casey and the late Tolbert Casey. Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Lindsey Sheppard of Fairfield. Bridesmaids included Miranda Evans of Fairfield, Krista Sanders of Fairfield, Jillian Kingsley of Tampa, Florida; and Sarah Simpson of College Station. Best man for the groom was his brother, Michael Wren of Fairfield. Groomsmen were Justin Gonzales of Streetman, Casey Morris of Garland, Tyler Bonner of Fairfield and Chad Lancaster of Fairfield. Guests were registered at the wedding by Paige Hayter of Montgomery, and usher was Logan Hayter, also of Montgomery. Both are cousins of the bride. Special music was provided by guitarist Nick DiGennaro of Dallas, and soloist Whitney Stutts of Lubbock. Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore an ivory Magique gown. The elegant organza gown had a strapless, dropped waist bodice. The A-line skirt flowed into four tiered layers that fell lightly to the floor. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of ivory and peach roses. Her special accessories included a gold and pearl ring belonging to her great- grandmother as something old; her dress was something new; something borrowed was a string of pearls belonging to her aunt, and her garter was something blue. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the groom’s parents in Stewards Mill. At the reception, guests were served from two cakes. The bride’s cake featured tour tiers with cascading roses that matched the flowers in the bride’s bouquet. The groom’s cake was chocolate with chocolate-covered strawberries. It featured cattle brands used by four generations -- the groom, the groom’s father, the groom’s grandfather and his great-grandfather. The evening before the wedding, the couple and their family and friends enjoyed a rehearsal dinner given by the groom’s parents at their home. Barbecue was served, prepared by Darrell Evans of Fairfield. The new Mrs. Wren is a May 2006 graduate of Texas A&M University — Commerce, and is employed as a first grade teacher at Fairfield elementary school. The groom is a December 2004 graduate of Sam Houston State University and is employed by AgriLand Farm Credit Services. Following a wedding trip to Kauai, Hawaii, the couple have made their home in Fairfield.
