Freestone County, Texas Wills Last Will and Testiment of Richmond Carrroll State of Texas, County of Freestone Book 1-5 Page 199 In the Name of God, Amen; whereas I, Richmond Carroll, a resident of the county of Freestone in the State of Texas, am possessed of certain property consisting of land, horses, cattle, hogs, mules, money. Possessing notes, and c.; and am now of sound and disposing mind and memory conscious of the uncertainty of life and death on account of great age and my present affection of body, I can not live many years and whereas I desire my children who are living and the children of my deceased children to inherit and receive my property after my death now therefore: 1st, I will and devise and bequeath so much money as may be necessary to pay all my debts and expenses of my last sickness and burrel to be emmidiatly paid by my executor to whomsoever they may be owing. 2nd, I give devise and bequeath unto my children John D. Carroll, Washington B. Carroll, Martha W. Shinpoch, Elizabeth B. Telford, Mahala Jeneson, George R. Carroll, Marry Ann Telford, Alabama Wingfield; each the sum of Five hundred sixty dollars in specia or if paid in the paper legal tender or other paper currency of the United States the sum of Seven hundred eighty-five dollars. I also give, will, devise and bequeath a like sum of money to wit if paid in specie Five hundred sixty dollars or if paid in said currency Seven hundred eighty-five dollars to the children of my son Allen A. Carroll and a like sum as above stated receiving as above stated to the children of my daughter Exar L. Cullins each of said children before stated receiving as above stated either for themselves or when dead through their children if paid in specie the sum of Five hundred sixty dollars or if paid in currency the sum of Seven hundred eighty-five dollars. 3rd, I give will devise and bequeath unto my children above named and to the children of said Allen and said Exar the children of said Allen representing him a one share and the children of said Exar representing her as one share and also to my son Francis M. Carroll to be equally among them to share and share alike all the remainder and ballance of my property afore said after the payment of the legacies aforesaid. Page 200 4th, To execute and carry out the provisions of my last Will and Testiment I do hereby appoint Julus Driver of said County and State my executor hereby confirming upon said Julus Driver all rights and privileges which by law as said Executor he may be entitled to the reason why I so not bequeath the sum of Five hundred sixty dollars specie or the currency before stated to Francis M. Carroll is because I have given to him to wit: about November AD 1866 in land what I consider equals to the sum of money.
