"The State of Texas County of Freestone John L. Bonner, a citizen of Freestone County, State of Texas, being of sound mind and disposing memory, and being about to leave my home in said County for service in the present War between the Confederate States of America and the United States of America, and for the purpose of service as a soldier in the Confederate States of America, and knowing that life is uncertain, I do make this my will. Item 1st I will that my beloved wife Sarah E. Bonner [Sarah Elizabeth Bonner] be my executrix, and that she be assisted by the advice of our friends in the transaction of all my business whatsoever that she pay all my just debts, and then use of my children, James W. Bonner [James William "Jim Billy" Bonner], Andrew Bonner [Andrew Samuel Bonner], and Oliver Y. Bonner [Oliver Young Bonner], and for the support and education of my said children equally between them. Item 2nd I will that the Probate Court have nothing to do with this will, except the probating of the same, and that my said executrix give no bond or security of any kind in relation thereto. Item 3rd I will that in case of the death or refusal of my said wife, or of her becoming incapaciated so to act, then in that case I will that her brother, J. H. Bonner [Joseph Hearst Bonner] and my brother, James I. Bonner [James Issac Bonner], do act in her room, as directed above and also without being required to give bond or any security whatever.
