N. McGaffrey in this city, Mr. Melville Putnam Beaufort of Galveston, aged 67. Deceased was born in Baltimore, Md., Sept. 19, 1830. He served in the confederate navy under Capt. Semmes and was the last survivor of the crew of the Sumter. He resided in Galveston for twenty-five years until his removal here a short time before his death. He leaves four daughters, Mrs. W. M. Inman of Galveston, Mrs. C. N. McGaffrey of Luling, Mrs. S. A. Green of Dublin, Tex., and Mrs. R. C. Galbraith of Fort Worth; also two sisters, Mrs. C. J. Kilgour of Lykens, Pa., and Miss M. E. Beaufort of Baltimore, Md. Deceased was a member of the Masonic fraternity. His remains will be interred in the Luling Cemetery to-morrow morning.
