Noted Man Was Brother of New Iberia Lady. Robert Hawley, president of the Cuban American Sugar Company, died very suddenly of indigestion at his home in New York City, this week. Mr. Hawley was 72 years old and had occupied a most prominent place in the industrial world for nearly half a century. He first made a large fortune in the export trade while living in Galveston. In 1896 he was elected to Congress from Texas. Then going to New York where he at once assumed a prominent place in the affairs of that city. Mr. Hawley was an active member of several of the leading clubs of that city, and a controlling factor in the sugar traffic of the world. Mrs. L. G. Williams of New Iberia, J. H. Hawley of Houston were his only living sister and brother and he is also survived by two grand children Hawley and John Oakes.
