Wade The Victim The opening of the hunting season was marred by a deplorable accident that occurred on Sunday morning at about 10 o'clock at Oak Forest, while Messrs. Griffin, Lynn Batner, and Ed Wade were out hunting in the Wade pasture, and resulted in the death of Mr. Wade. It seems the party were in the river bottom awaiting the return of Mr. Wade, who had gone on some errand to a nearby tenant house, when a shotgun in the hands of Mr. Boatner was in some manner accidentally discharged just as Mr. Wade approached, the load entering his body to the left of the abdomen and, tearing its way entirely through, came out at the back. The wounded man was at once removed to the home of his brother, Mr. Mose Wade, near Oak Forest and physicians hastily summoned to the scene. An operation was performed in an effort to save his life, it being, however, of no avail as death ensued, at 4 o'clock p.m., less than a half hour after the patient was removed from the operating table. Mr. Wade was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Wade of this city and was but 27 years and 3 months of age. Besides a grief stricken father and mother, he leaves two brothers, Messrs. Jim and Mose Wade, and two sisters, Mrs. Darden Qualls and Miss Fanny Wade. The body was brought to town this morning and taken to the home of his parents on St. Andrews Street where funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 4:30 o'clock after which interment will be made in the Masonic Cemetery. The sincere sympathy of the entire community goes out not only to the bereaved family of the unfortunate young man, but also to the friend who is beside himself with grief over the tragic affair.
