Kone Judge of said County - Petitioner Joel Rice who resides in said county, respectfully represents that he is the father of the minors Elizabeth Rice age nineteen years, William H. Rice age 17, J. G. Rice age 14, Robert Emmett Rice age 12 and J. Virgil Rice age 10 years old and which minors reside in said County, he further states that said minors interested in a tract of land in the State of Kentucky devised to them by their Grandfather, Henry F. James, now deceased - And that said minors interest in said land is now wort about five thousand dollars - And he further states that it will be in the interest of said children to have their onterest on said land sold and the proceeds from said sale be invested in lands in the State of Texas.He prays for process as the law discounts and upon the final moving that he be appointed guardian over the Estate of those under fourteen years old and over select in open Court a Guardian over their Estates and he will ever pray to W. O. Hutchinson Atty for Petitioner Additional Comments: The above application was denied: Hays County Texas Probate Records as follows: NO. 136 , Order of the Court May 15, 1882 Elizabeth Rice et al Minors The application for Joe Rice having failed and declined for Letters of Guardianship of said Minors. Several family members listed moved from Hays County Texas to the Panhandle of Texas in Armstrong County by the date of the letter in 1890. Decendants of Fannie Howard Rice Heiskell can be found in neighboring Carson County in 1900 and later in Gray County Texas by 1910.
