He was a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence and served 2 terms in 
the legislature of the Republic of Texas.  The town of McKinney and the county 
of Collin in Texas are named for him.  He was a land surveyor, merchant, 
politcian, and lay preacher.

Husband of 1)Annie Moore, then 2)Elizabeth Leake Coleman.  He was the son of 
Daniel McKinney & Mercy Blatchley

Born Apr.17,1766; Died Sept.9,1861.
