The Alpine Presbeterian Church is located at 4102 Tryon Road and sits on the corner of Tryon Rd. and Hiett Lane. The cemetery is not located next to the Church. To get to the Cemetery go down Heitt Lane and take a right on Sam Page Rd. The Cemetery will be located on the right and sits approximately in front of Dennard Street. From talking with a nextdoor neighboor of the cemetery and a member of the Alpine Presbetarian Church the cemetery was originally on the Dickard Farm and donated by Mr. Dickard for the cemetery. The cemetery is layed out in 4 sections. There are two entrances to the cemetery with side walks that go to the back section of the cemetery. The middle section is between the two entrances and divided by the two sidewalks. There is a section located on the left and right sides of the middle section. The back section takes up the whole width of the cemetery and is divided from the front sections by a sidewalk Middle Section Facing the cemetery, starting on the right hand side, reading rows right to left. Cement bench in middle section facing the side walk at the front entrance. They appeared to be made of sandstone and looked to be identical to each other. J'nell and I spent quite a bit of time trying to read the markers. We came to the conclusion that all three markers were probably SMITHERMAN markers. Headstone 1. SMITHERMAN, J. Tison (Smitherman was legible.) Nov. ? 1808 - Dec 30, 1888 "All is Well" Headstone 2. (Broken in several pieces and the writing is badly worn away) M c or o space Tyer Smitherman (couldn't make out the first name spelling) dates appeared to be 21 Sept 18?6 (year could be 1866 or 1886) (Information not legible on death date) Headstone 3. (writing worn away) Stone is identical to the two stones above.
