This is a country cemetery sitting on top of a hill overlooking a crossroads. It is an unusual cemetery for this part of the country, in that there are blacks and whites buried together. We found several headstones with pictures of blacks and several headstones with pictures of whites. There are several very old headstones here, along with many unmarked graves and graves with only funeral markers to designate their final resting place. There are a few small wooden crosses marking a grave and many hand carved headstones. The 1933 beside the Moriah name is very misleading since there are many graves from the 1800's, the oldest marked readable one having a death date of 1853. Possibly the 1933 is when the cemetery was "formally" formed or took on the name of Moriah. Take Hwy. 135 from Gladewater to Kilgore. After you cross over I-20 watch for Goforth Rd. Turn right. Go to the first stop sign and the cemetery will be slightly to your right and on top of the hill. NAME DATE OF BIRTH DATE OF DEATH REMARKS LENOIR, Evelyn D.
