Deeds found in the county courthouses, particularly where one person conveys land, tenements, or heredi- taments to another often contain much genealogical information. ************************************************ Warranty Deed dated October 8, 1896; Recorded Vol. "0", p. 429, Gregg Co. TX. R. G. Brown to W. T. Gray We, R. G. Brown and wife, F. C. Brown of the county of Gregg and State of Texas in consideration of the sum of $1,500, paid by W. T. Gray, Cash, plus 3 promissory notes...conveyed unto the said W. T. Gray of the County of Gregg and State of Texas, certain tracts or lots of land in Gregg County, Texas about 2-1/2 miles south of Longview, Texas...The Gin and machinery situated upon land or premises is reserved from this sale by Grantor. "But it is expressly agreed and stipulated that the Vendor's lien is retained against the above described property, premises and im- provements until the above described note and all interest thereon are fully paid, according to their face and tenor, effect and reading, when this deed shall become absolute.
