ALLISON, Thomas Jefferson, Sr. - Enlisted in Confederate Army in Upshur County, Company C, 10th Texas Cavary. Killed in Battle. Family resided at Gladewater. ANSLEY, Wesley Sole - Pvt., Co. F, Fifth Regiment, from Georgia. Born in 1844 in Georgia, died 1922. Buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Longview. ADRIAN, D. W. - Ensisted July 16, 1861 - Third Lt. - Co. G, Fifth Regiment from Mississippi. Resident of Chicasaw County, Miss. Discharged by order of Commander-in-Chief at Macon, Georgia, 1865. BIVINS, James Knox Sr. - Born April 13, 1845, Henry County, Georgia; died June 23, 1921. Buried Greenwood Cemetery, Longview. CSA marker on grave. Volunteered when 16 years old, mustered in at Marshall, Texas. Pvt. in Co. B, Texas Infantry. Granbury's Brigade. Participated in the battles of Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge, Ringold, Resaca, New Hope Church, kinesay Mt., Atlanta, Jonesboro and Franklin, Tenn., and Ft. Donaldson. Captured and sent to prison camp in Chicago, where he had pneumonia. In a P.O.W. exchange, he was sent to Gen. Joseph E. Johnson at Greensboro, N.C. where he was mustered out, April 26, 1865. Mr Bibins was Commander of Camp No. 587 United Confederate Veterans from 1907 to about 1918. BROWN, A. J. - Resident of Talladega County, Alabama. Enlisted June, 4, 1863. Private in Co. B, Lockhart's Battery, Alabama. Paroled in fall of 1865. BURKE, Archibald T. - Born April 15, 1829 in Georgia. Died January 23, 1882 and buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Longview. CSA marker on grave. Was member of Co F 7th Div. of Georgia Regiment; served on Governor's staff; wounded in leg at first battle of Manassas; promoted to Colonel and served for the duration. BROWN, Bluford Washington - Born January 31, 1831, Bibb Co. Alabama; died February 5, 1897. Buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Longview. CSA marker on grave. Enlisted 1862, Company F, 44th Ala Infantry Division. Returned home to raise a company of cavalrymen. Was Lt. of the company under Capt. Willis Cleveland, Livingston's Regiment, Clanton's Calvary Brigade. BROWN, John William - Resident of Rusk County, Texas. Born Nov. 4, 1836 in Albermarle County, Virginia; died July 9, 1905. Surgeon from Texas, Dec. 3, 1862, to report to General Braxton Bragg. Built his home in Longview where the First Baptist Church now stands. DURHAM, D. D. - From Kemper County, Miss. Enlisted June 1861. Pvt in Independent Company, 59th Regiment from Virginia. Served through entire war. Discharged in 1865 with rank of Second Lt. of Co. K, 46th Mississippi Regiment, Sear's Brigade. Pvt. in Company B, 7th Texas Infantry in Col. Bregg's Regiment. Discharged April 26, 1865 and died in Fort Worth, Texas. ECHOLS, Robert Finis - Born July 31, 1846 in Shelby Co. Texas. Died Nov. 9, 1916. Buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Longview. Corp. in Co. I, 35th Regiment, Dist. of Texas Cavalry. Was the battle of Mansfield, La. and at Galveston when it was taken. FINCH, John Landrum. From Spartanburg, S.C. Enlisted in 1862. (High) Pvt. in Co. E., Second South Carolina Cavalry. Discharged in April 1865. Died in Longview. FINDLEY, Richard James - From Columbia, Alabama. Enlisted in Auburn, Ala. Pvt. Co. D., 14th Alabama Inf. Received slight wound at Salem Church, Va. on May 3, 1863. Admitted to Chimborazo Hospital Unit No. 4, Richmond, Va. on June 14, 1863. Trans- ferred to Howard Grove Hospital. Captured at Hanover Junction June 24, 1864 States, the prisoners were released June 19, 1865, then in rags, were marched through the streets of Elmira and were booed and stoned. FLANAGAN, Webster - Enlisted as a scout with Maxey, Nunn and Boggess. Transferred later to Morgan's Battery, later to Henry McCullock's Brigade, and finally to Parson's Brigade. Died in Henderson, Texas. FLEWELLEN, Thomas Archeleus - Born Feb. 27, 1829; died June 17, 1893, buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Longview. Enlisted in Civil Dept. Tyler, Texas, rank of Capt. FLORENCE, Sim - Enlisted 1861. Pvt. in Co. K, 3rd Texas Cavalry. Died in Rusk Co. FOWLER, Littleton Morris - Methodist minister. Enlisted in Clarks- ville, Texas while a student at McKinzie College. Attached to Hood's Brigade. Born Oct. 15, 1844 in San Augustine, Texas. Enlisted in 1862 - John L. Camp's 14th Cavalry Division. Engaged in 13 battles including Chickamauga, under Generals Johnson, Bragg, and Hood. Died 1919 and buried in Henderson Cemetery. GOFORTH, Reuben - Born Aug. 5, 1841, died Jan. 25, 1882. Was attached to Co. G., 10th Texas Cavalry. Buried in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Gregg County. GRIMES, G. G. - From Rusk County, Texas. Enlisted Feb. 1, 1863, Pvt. in Co. D, 28th Texas Regiment. A 3rd Texas Cavalry, commanded by Col. Greer. He was at Battle of Oak Hill and served under Gen. Ben McCollough at Elkhorn. Later served under Gen. Ross in Mississippi. LITTLE, S. Miles - Born Nov. 7, 1823 in Tennessee. Died Mar. 15, 1905 and buried in White Cemetery in Gregg County. Enlisted 1862 in Columbia, Tenn. in Co. G, 23rd Tennessee Regiment. LUCKETT, Charles Joseph - Resident of San Antonio, Texas. Born 1836 died 1908, buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Longview. Enlisted Aug. 1861 - Pvt. in Company Co. 2nd Texas Cavalry. Discharged in May of 1865 with rank of Major in the Quartermaster Department. MARSHALL, Dr. W. G. - Resident of Van Buren, Ark. Enlisted May 15, 1861, Pvt. in Company F - Van Buren's Guards, 3rd Arkansas Regiment. Reportedly never discharged as he was in the hospital at Jefferson, Texas until about a month and a half after close of the war when, "I turned the hospital over to the Federals and stepped aside." Attained rank of Captain and Assistant Surgeon. Practiced medicine in Longview for many years. MAYFIELD, W. S. - Resident of Nacogdoches, Texas. Enlisted 1863 - Pvt. in Co. H, 4th Texas Cavalry Regiment. Discharged in 1865 and died in Longview. MAGRILL, John R. - Early resident of Gregg County. Served as a courier in the CS Army. Died in Longview, Texas. Donated land for First Methodist Church of L'view. McCLAIN, John - Resident of Raleigh, N.C. Died Dec. 1918 in Acworth and buried in Mars Hill Cemetery. Enlisted Sept. 18, 1861 in the First Georgia Cavalry. Later transferred to Co. A, 18th Regiment. Fought in the battle of Bull Run, wounded at Seven Pines, captured at Gettysburg and sent to Hog Island Prison near New York City. Discharged by Gen. Wheeler May 7, 1865. Was resident of Longview many years.
