Francis Marschalk, editor of the Gregg County Clarion of this place, died last night, aged 50 years. His remains were shipped to Sherman for burial, where his sister, Mrs. C. B. Randell, resides. Mr. Marschalk was one of the ablest journalists in the state, having been an editor for over thirty years. He started the first paper ever published in Delta, Tex., in 1859, and enlisted in the confederate navy and fought three years, receiving several wounds. He has published the Clarion for seven or eight years. He leaves an invalid wife and two daughters, just nearly grown. The stores were all closed while his remains were being conveyed to the depot and continued so until the 1 p.m. train bore him away.
