C. Seguin, Texas Prepared for the internet by Wanda Qualls Feb 1, 2005 Of concern in Guadalupe County, second only to good roads, is the establishment with her border of the largest Aviation Field in the United States. This field was purchased of landowners by the U. S. Government and others and will be made a Primary Air School. It is situated near Cibolo and Schertz and is already being made raeady for occupation. Tremendous development is expected in this section in the near future. Seguin also is on a direct air lane on the route between San Antonio, Houston and Galveston and will be passed over daily by ships of the army as well as those of commerce and pleasure. The past week a large sighn bearing the workd "Seguin" has been painted on the roof of the Lovett Motor Co. to give information to air passengers. The Tips Farm Field on the river southeast of Seguin has recently been recognized by army officers as a most suitable place for a landing field, landings have been made last week. Seguin Enterprise, January 04, 1929 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Secretary Grady Walker, of the Chamber of Commerce, returned Wednesday from Ft. Worth where he attended a "school" given under the auspices of the Texas Air Transport Co. All matters pertaining to aviation were discussed by experts, newspaper men and Chamber of Commerce Secretaries present. It was brought out that all cities with landing fields would ultimately be served by air mail as well as commercial service. Now it behooves Seguin to get that air field.
