Collingwood Rites Held Friday at Cason Church Pittsburg Gazette, Pittsburg, Camp, Texas September 14, 1963 George Collingwood, 74, native of Mount Holyoke, Mass., died of a heart attack Wednesday, September 11, while standing near his car at his home in Cason. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Methodist Church, Cason. Burial was in Blevins Cemetery. Officiating ministers were the Rev. John Barfield and the Rev. Lon Gruver. Reeder-Watson-Davis Funeral Home, Hughes Springs, was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Key Ryan, Herman Childree, Charles Tittle, Pete Wardlow, Ira Bicknell, Marvin Fox, Lloyd Edwards and John Monkhouse. Mr. Collingwood, member of an English family, was the first child of his family born in this country. He attended Williston Academy in Massachusetts and was a graduate in engineering from the University of Michigan where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He was engaged in the oil business and came to East Texas in the early 1930’s, making his home in Pittsburg. He had lived at Cason the past nine years. He was a member and steward of the First United Methodist Church at Cason. He was a veteran of World War I. He was married to the former Miss Gene Evans of Cason. Surviving are his wife; one brother, Frank Collingwood, Tampa, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. E K Everhart, St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Mrs. John L Bagg, Greenfield, Mass. Mrs. Collingwood teaches piano in the Hughes Springs schools. Friends from here attended the rites. ---
