Gladys and James Turpin were faithful members of Doverside Baptist Church, and later, North Side Baptist Church, Houston, TX (the two churches merged in the late 1970s) I remember them as some folks I looked up to as I was growing up in Doverside. Linda (Turpin) Garcia was a little older than me. She was deaf. She was a sweet, pretty young lady. She also was someone I admired as I grew up in Houston. It was sad to see her die so young. As believers in Jesus Christ, her family, however, knew where she was going and looked forward to seeing her again one day in Heaven. My dad, Rev. Joe Brumbelow, was their long time pastor. -DRB Brother Joe Brumbelow made the following remarks at the Funeral: “I have known Linda for over 30 years. I knew her as a little girl. She was always one of my favorite people.” He noted her beauty and her love and enthusiasm for life. “James and Gladys, many people never had a beautiful little girl. You have had a loving daughter for 35 years. Albert, many men never had a wife who really loved them. You did. Children, you have had a good start in life with a loving mother. All of our lives will be richer because we knew Linda.” We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. -2 Corinthians 5:8; The Bible And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." -Revelation 21:4; The Bible The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. -1 Corinthians 15:26; The Bible A book about Rev.
