She was born in San Angelo, TX on October 5, 1909 to the late Lula and Dee T. Thomas. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, a conscien- tious church worker, a friend in time of need for her neighbors and a loyal and faithful worker in the fifth ward community. Edna was known as an Angel of Mercy in the fifth ward community. Everyone in the area knew that they could always call on her and that she would never be too busy. She has been a board member of the Lyons Avenue Health Council and Anchor House. She took blood pressure of the senior citizens at the Julius C. Hester House until 2000. Edna was a member of the Retired Nurses Association, Houston Harris County Retired Teachers Association, Married Ladies Social Club, Galdiolus Garden Club, Heroines of Jericho, and Blocks Organized for Neighborhood Defense (B.O.N.D.). She loved her church, Antioch Baptist and served on numerous boards and auxiliaries. A woman of great vision, integrity and generosity, Edna contributed her time and talents toward making a difference in Houston, a city that she loved dearly. Edna was blessed with a helping spirit, loyal friends and loving family. Hers was a life well-lived and well-loved. She is survived by her husband of 65 years Willie Hall, a daughter Camilla Hall Jackson, and sons, James Hall and his wife Stella of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Willie M. Hall and his wife Ida of Houston, and Fredrick Hall and his wife Dr. Alda Underwood of Stone Mountain, GA; a brother Ivry Thomas of San Antonio, TX. Her grandchildren who brought her great joy are Riki Moore Henry and Husband David; Kelli Hall Barnett and her husband Martin; Regina Moore; Felecia Hall Sams and husband; Fredrick Hall II and Langston Hall. She had 5 great- grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. Edith Irby Jones for her friendship and care over the years and all of the many other doctors and staff at Park Plaza Hospital. Friends may call on the family on Friday evening from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2004 at 11:00 am.
