He passed away May 4, 2002 in Cheyenne, OK at the age of 88 years 3 months and 26 days. Jess was the youngest and the last survviving child of early day pioneers Thomas L. and Ida B. Lovett. He attended the one room school at Pie Flat. He married Nettie Mae Howard at Woodward, Oklahoma on January 21, 1936. They lived and farmed in the Roll Community for 31 years before making their home in Cheyenne, Oklahoma for the last 34 years. Jess grew up on a farm and was acrively engaged in farming until 1999. He attended Cheyenne First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Robie Atkins and Thelma Shaw; 4 brothers, Albert E. (Abby), Lee Roy (Rody), Ernest B. (Cy), and Henry R. Lovett. Services were held Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at 10:00 AM at Cheyenne First United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Don Harrold and assisted by Chaplain John Rodgers. Burial was held at the Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direcytion of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Survivors include: wife, Nettie Mae Lovett of the home; 3 sons, Frank Lovett and wife, Jan of Katy, Texas, Tom Lovett and wife Kay of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Terry Lovett and Donna of Katy, Texas; 5 grandchildren, Steve and Ann Lovett of College Staation, Texas, Cindy and Steve Coffman of Prosper, Texas, Lisa and Glenn Coffee of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Bryan Lovett of Katy, Texas, Donald Lovett of Katy, Texas; 9 great grandchildren, Katlyn, Scott, Kyle and Cassidy Lovett, Mark and Jessica Coffman, Colin, Blaine and Anna Coffee; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
