He was born in Houston TX, on June 27, 1903, and married Dorothy Marie Williamson on June 7, 1928. Mr. Newton retired from ARCO after 40 years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Houston, where he served as an honarary member of the Admisistrative Board and was a charter member of the Asbury Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Monte Newton and Betty Ben Newton and brother, James Monte Newton, Jr. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Marie Newton; two daughters, Dorothy Buerger and husband Bill Buerger and Jerry Ann Newton; brother, John Hilton Newton; sister, Bernice Newton; 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and newphews. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family in the Settegast-Kopf Drawing Room on Maonday March 23, 1992, from 7:00pm until 9:00pm. Funeral services will be conducted int he Settegast-Kopf Chapel on Tuesday, March 23, 1992, at 11:30 am, with the Reverend David Snowden officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be James Jackson, Terrill Buerger, Dr. William H Barth, Richard L Cook, Michael Wilkinson, Melvin Loeffler; honarary pallbearers are the Asbury Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Interment will follow at the Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
