OBIT OF BETTIE BEN NEWTON, HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 10-31-1966, SEC. 4, PG.
20 Mrs. Bettie Ben Newton, 82, 6615 Park Lane, died 6:25 pm Sunday in
a local hospital. Native of Bastrop, La. Resident of Houston 67 years.
Member of First Methodist Church, 25 year member of Northside chapter
No. 651 OES. Survivors: one daughter, Miss Bernice Newton; three sons,
Britt E. Newton, J. H. Newton, both of Houston, J. M. Newton Jr. of
Lafayette, La.; ten grandchildren, 15 greatgrandchildren. Funeral
services 11:30 am Tuesday, McGowen Avenue chapel of Geo. H. Lewis &
Sons, The Rev. Frederick Marsh officiating. Burial Hollywood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Bill H. Buerger, Irwin E. Garies, James
M. Newton III, Keith Michael Newton, James V. Newton, John H. Newton
