NEWTON MARCH 1980 Lemuel E. Newton, age 81, born in Houston, Texas in 1898. Formerly owned the Bluebonnet Theater. He took over this theater in 1928. It was the second theater in this city to have talking pictures back in those days. It was put in just after the Kirby Theater, Inc. in 1936. He worked for Interstate at the River Oaks in 1968. Survivors: wife, Mrs. Esther Newton; son, Lemuel C. Newton of Shreveport, La.; stepson, Ray O. Robinson and wife Helen; brother, Emet A. Newton of Houston; sisters, Gladys McDanniel of Houston, Vera Matthew of Waco, Doris Milam of Conroe; grand-daughters, Carolyn Stephenson of Lubbock, Cindy Cockran of Houston; four great- grandchildren. He passed away March 7, 1980. Funeral services 9 am Monday, March 10, 1980, Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Chapel with Rev. Clark Head officiating. Interment Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
