OBIT - HOUSTON POST APRIL 6, 1897
J. V. Newton, aged 63 years, residing at No. 2402 Elysian Street Fifth
ward, died yesterday morning after a short illiness. He was a
contracting carpenter, was well known in this city, and had many
friends. The funeral will take place this morning at 10 o'clock from
the late residence, services to be held at White Oak Church on the
Montgomery Road, three miles from the city. Interment will take place
in that vicinity.
