Elder J. A. (Jacob) Rowell Sr., 78, of 815 Ridge, passed away Monday. Resident 
of Houston 58 years. Elder of the Grace Primitive Baptist Church. Retired 
Postal Supervisor with 30 years of service. Survivors: Wife, Mrs. J. A. 
(Eunice) Rowell; daughter, Mrs. Elmira Calhoun: son, J. A. Rowell Jr.; five 
grandchildren, all of Houston, brother, Cliva Rowell, Wimberley, Texas; 
sisters, Mrs. Ira Dupree, Mrs. Emma Hamilton, Mrs. Martha Berry, Mrs. Mae 
Pierce, all of Houston, Mrs. Grace Campbell, Tomball, Mrs. Berta Adams, Galena 
Park, Mrs. Vera Hutton, Arkansas. Services 11 a.m. Wednesday Grace Primitive 
Baptist Church, 3620 Hurley Road, Elder J. H. Casey and Elder Raymond C. Lee 
officiating. Burial Hollywood Cemetery. Active Pallbearers: E. W. Singletary, 
Elmer Singletary, M. T. Hopkins, E. J. Watts, M. T. Madole, J. W. Bass. 
Honorary pallbearers: Blake Ivins, Frank Robertson, B. E. Matthews. Sam H.

Abe was the son of Jacob Everett ROWELL & Martha J. "Mattie" STATON. He 
married Eunice Oliva WARD in 1925 and they had two children: Eunice Elmira & 
Jacob Abraham Jr ROWELL.
