MARIE WOHLFAHRT, GOLF QUEEN, DIES OF LONG ILLNESS Funeral services will be held Wednesday for Mrs. Marie Louise Wohlfahrt, one of Texas' best known women golfers for the last 40 years. Mrs. Wohlfahrt died Monday night after an illness of several months. She was 64 years old. Mrs. Wohlfahrt organized the Texas Women's Public Links Golf Association in 1935 and won the state championship three times. She was seven times winner of the Houston Women's Public Links championship, the first time in 1942 and the last in 1954. She was a past president of the state organization four times president of the Houston association. She was a member of the Texaco Country Club. She lived with her husband, E.H. Wohlfahrt, at 3523 Georgetown St. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- WOHLFAHRT--Mrs. Marie Louise Wohlfahrt, 64, 3523 Georgetown, died Monday (September 3, 1962). Wohlfahrt; sisters, Mrs. Annie Thomas, Mrs. Dorothy Hasle, Mrs. Agnes York; Brothers, George, J.H. Sr., Lawrence, E.A., Joseph Goebel, all of Houston, William Goebel, Palestine; several nieces and nephews; one cousin.
