Aged 39 years, 2 months. William Grimes died March 3, 1861, Sunday morning 15 minutes before 1 o'clock. Aged 68 years, 6 months, 15 days. Ann E. Baxter died May 5, 1871, Friday morning 20 minutes before 6 o'clock. Aged 34 years, 7 months, 9 days. Louisa W. Russell died July 15, 1877, Sunday at sunset. Dropsy of heart and rheumatism. Aged 43 years, 11 mo., 17 days. Asha Grimes died July 12, 1867, Friday evening one-half hour to sunset. Aged 67 years, 6 months, 11 days. Nancy Womack died Saturday, April 9, 1887 of pneumonia. Aged 64 years, 2 months, 23 days. James A. Worsham died March 6th, 1890. Mrs. Wm. Grimes died August 9, 1890. (Mrs. Wm. S.) Page 2 In these papers there was found the original cotton crop sales statements of William Grimes from 1854 to 1857. All of these sales were made in Mobile, Alabama, and most of them were made through the firm of A. E. and W. J. Ledyard of Mobile, Alabama. The last sale was made December 24, 1857 The last statement was dated February 4, 1858. These state- ments were not inclosed in envelopes. A Letter to Wm. S. Grimes dated November 18, 1906 at Coleman, Texas and signed Bertie contained the following informatlon:- Dr. B. H. Anderson, Aunt Maria's grandson (and son of Asha Worsham) lives In Brownwood, Texas. He is getting gray but he is only 39 years old. Hiram Everitt also lives there. Cousin Hiram and Cousin Cilla are looking old and grey. Buena stayed with me this week." Note:- The Dr. B. H. Anderson is the Ben who is practicing mediclne in Manor, Texas, according to the letter of Maria Worsham dated September 26, 1905. The following addresses are shown:- John J. Joslin. R. H. Apr. 22, 1864 A picture of a girl and child bears the following notatlon:- Rufe Ella Burnett's photograph of Willie Pauline Sloan. (The Sloan child is evidently the daughter of Annie Cook Sloan Bruce by her first marriage.) Page 3 The following notations appear in a book the name of which 1s:- Young Lady's Offerings, Gems of Prose and Poetry, by Mrs. L. H. Segourney and others. Boston: Phillips Sampson & Co., New York; J. C. Derby. 1858. "A Prize to Florence Eva Rain, Pleasant Valley, Alabama, Washington County, August 18, 1857." "Left Washington County, Alabama, Sunday, April 26, 1868. Arrived in Harrlson County, Texas, Saturday, May 16, 1868." Dr. Edrington medicine for Raymond, May 31, 1874. The following clipping was found:- Miss Florence Rain and Hanry S. Harris were united in wedlock last Sunday morning (March 30, 1890) at 12:50 o'clock by S. F. Perry, Justice of the Peace. Why this unusual hour was chosen, we have not learned. The bride and groom have many friends who will congratulate them and wish them happiness and prosperity. The Star and Gazett extends congratulations. Letters to Mrs. Florence E. Harris, c/o Cypress Lbr. Co., Jefferson, Texas, dated August 31, 1891, contain the following:- Wink Woodley married. Lyt & Lula married. Ansel Woodly died. Also dated May 25, 1891, shows:- Dear Nonnie:- Will Grimes has gone to Mexico to make his future home and does not expect to come back. Both signed Raymond. Notes from letters of Pink Boswell dated at Bigbee, Ala. show:- August 13, 1895. Cousin Lucy Cunningham has only three children beside Clara. She lost her little boy last winter. Brother Alph is anxious to go to Texas. He has 4 boys & 2 girls - Girls youngest. February 17, 1902:- Old Mr. Grimes died Sunday morning. He died sitting in his chair - heart failure. February 14, 1903:- Father died February 8, 1903.
