Harrison Co. TX - William Grimes Papers ¤¤¤¤¤¤ Bigbee, Alabama January 11th 1893 My dear Uncle: You are a stranger to me but I know I would like you if I could see you for Mama has spoken to us so often of you, Aunt Allice and your oldest children. I wrote to Cousin Bertie but she cast my letter aside and never responded to it. Can not you and her come and stay some with us? We would be ever so much delighted to have you with us. I suppose you have heard of Mama's illness in the fall. She came near dying. The Drs. attended on her nearly two months. She hasn't entirely recovered yet and don't think she will ever be healthy again like she has for the last fifteen years. She had the dropsy and kidney disease. Have you heard of Aunt Martha's youngest daughter, Cousin Jessie's death, she died Friday week before Christmas. She was taken with a very severe cold which terminated into Pneumonia, My oldest brother, Jemmie, is in Texas, he said he was going to write to you. Has he written yet? My oldest sister, Loula Kohen, has got two sweet little boys. The oldest one is two years old, his name is William Jackson. The baby is three months old, its name is Millard Fillmore, I don't think it is a pretty name. Well, I must bring my brief and uninteresting letter to a close, hoping you and family are well and that you will visit us soon. Write soon to Your Unknown Niece, Carrie Horton Boswell. (P.S.) Please excuse bad writing and mistakes. I will try to do better next time. Carrie Note:-This is a copy of a letter written to William S. Grimes. Arleston. Panola Countv.
