Singleton died at her home on the Shreveport road east of Marshall on Thursday, March 6, 1930 at 8:00 p.m. after a lingering illness. She was before her marriage Miss Lizzie Bussey and was reared in Shelby County, where she was born in 1865. Mr. and Mrs. Singleton resided near Mt. Zion beyond DeBerry for many years on what is now the Magnolia Gas Company farm. They moved to Harrison County nine years ago. Mrs. Singleton was a devout Baptist through life. Her brother, Rev. J. T. Bussey of Weatherford is one of the best known Baptist preachers in Texas. Surviving Mrs. Singleton are her husband and the following children: Mrs. Ada Howell, Center; Mrs. B.F. Hilton, Elysian Fields; Mrs. H. J. Howell, DeBerry; Mrs. J. R. Hines, Preston Singleton, Mrs. W. C. Langford, Jessie Singleton, and Earnest Singleton of Marshall. She leaves one sister also to mourn her death, Mrs. Ida Pressley of Ft. Worth. Funeral services and burial were held Friday afternoon at DeBerry.
