Zachariah P. Bugg was the first sheriff of Hays County when he was 
approximately 25 years old.  He married Emma J. Davis (daughter of H.W. and 
L.B. Davis) who was part fo the Pitts family.  Zachariah served in Co. H, 23rd 
Regiment of the Texas Cavalry.  His most famous descendant is probably Robert 
Redford.
