Sylvira Rebecca Pitts Kone was born May 21, 1828 to John D. and Eliza Daves 
Pitts in Georgia.  She married Samuel Reid Kone in Grimes County (?) Texas and 
died May 9, 1910.  Immediately after the Civil War, some Union soldiers came 
through and after some discussion, she spat upon the boots of one of the 
officers.  He ordered her barn burned down.  She said it was worth it.
