Geo. C. Smith, Athens, Texas
Was born August 11, 1864 in Union Parish, La.  His father having come 
from South Carolina and settled in North Louisiana.  Mr. Smith came to 
Texas at the age of 18, stopping in Terrell May, 1883, remained in Kaufman
county until August 1886 when he married Miss Alice Wilson.  Then 
returned to Louisiana and lived 3 years.  Finally moving back to Texas
and settled in Henderson county, bought a farm, 5 mils from the town of 
Athens and is to-day numbered among the well to do farmers of Henderson
County.
