All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ********************************************* Athens Review 1901 Mrs Paralee Deen Mrs. Paralee Deen whose maiden name was Nabors, was born in Shelby county, Ala., on the 19th day of January, 1827, and afterwards moved with her parents to Winston county, Miss., where she, at the age of 15 years, was married to James M. Deen. Mr. and Mrs. Deen soon after their marriage moved to Texas, living at Nacogdoches about one year, at Marshall about two years, at Huntsville one year, at Jacksonville about two years, at Prairieville one year, from which place they moved to Athens, where she has continuously resided since the fal of 1853. James M., her husband died in 1882. She raised seven children to be grown, of whom only three are living - J. T. (Tom) Deen, W. D. (Dan) and Georgia, the wife of John S. Jones. Two or three years ago by accident she met the man who in 1848 as justice of the peace married her to her husband. She is now in her 74th year and quite vigorous for one of her age. She has twenty-seven grand children now living.
