Green was born in Tennessee in 1814. So she is 87 years old. She and her husband came to Texas in 1848 settling in Rusk county. They came to this county in 1857, settling on the Kaufman road five m(the page wasn't printed well and a few words in each line are unreadable) Athens. She now resides --- her daughter Mrs. D. C. Durham of the Mance country. She raised ten children. All are living now except two sons who were killed while in teh Southern army. Of those living are W. T. Green of Athens of the drug firm of Stirman & Green, J. S. Green of Mance, one son in Bosque county, one son in Summervill county, Texas, four daughters, Mrs. D. C. Durham, Mrs. W. M. Mortin, Mrs. W. H. Graham and Mrs. Smith, a widow, all of whom live in the Mance country. Mrs. Green can view her life with the pleasant thought that she lives to see all her children grown and doing well in the world. Eternity alone can tell the amount of good the mothers of our country have done. Let everyone stand with uncovered head in the presence of thies old fathers and mothers who reclaimed the country form a savage wilderness and made it a land of civiliation.
