III, No. 1, SPRING 1979, page 13 TANNAHILL CEMETERY In the book of J. J. Faulk called HISTORY OF HENDERSON COUNTY, TEXAS on page 56 one can find this statement. "His body (P. T. Tannahill) now sleeps in what is known as the Tannehill Cemetery, one and half miles south of Athens, on his old homestead. He was public spirited and gave and deeded two acres of land to the people for a cemetery, I think in 1856 or 1857. " In a recent visit to this location, which is back of the Lovers Lane Methodist Church, south of Tidmore development of 1978, 1 found only one marker that could be read. A member of The Henderson County Historical Commission states that there were several markers when she attended school in Athens and w alked across this open field.
