HENDERSON COUNTY, TX - CENSUS- UNDERWOOD SURNAME 1880 *********************************************** This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: "Candice Underwood " Sept. 2003 © Copyright. All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** UNDERWOOD *note: The listing on your page 180 @ 402/406 that says Vandenver? should read as the Underwood household below that I have transcribed from the actual census image. The age matches perfectly for Ripley Copeland Underwood who was 21 on the 1870 Henderson County census, page 12 - household # 88 headed by Robert Underwood. His wife, Texana, was 15 on the 1870 Henderson County census, page 11 - household # 83 headed by Tarlton Bond, but her age was rewritten over another age on this 1880 census so is difficult to read. The Eastep girl is Sarah "Letha" Taletha Eastep who is a first cousin to the head of the household - their mothers were sisters - Harriet & Sarah Grice. (There is an Eastep/Estep family history online at the Smith County TXGenWeb site). This Ripley C. Underwood is also listed as a Postmaster for Lindsey, Henderson County on 28 Feb 1881 on your website. This family can be found on the 1900 Jack County Census where it is headed by Texana Underwood.
