H. Richardson of LaRue are visiting in the city. Tom Graham says McKinley is the only Republican he ever voted for, but if some good man from the G. O. P. announces for governor he is ready to jump the democratic party again. Mrs. Nelson Gilreath and little daughter, Margarette of near Malakoff, spent yesterday with her parents, Judge and Mrs. W. L. Faulk. Frank Murchison returned to his home in El Paso, after spending a few days with his mother, Mrs. D. R. Murchison, also enjoying the association with old friends here. A dollar banquet will be given tonight a the home of Judge W. L . Faulk by the ladies of the M. E. church. The proceeds will go toward paying for the parsonage. Near forty tickets had been sold up to last night. Mrs. Jerome Davis of Chandler, has been visiting in the city for the past few days. Mrs. Walter Faulk and son, Leonard are visiting her parents in Atlanta. Mrs. S. E. Lindsey of St. Louis who is doing missionary work, left this morning. She was the guest of Mrs. W. A. Wofford while in the city. Mrs. Johnston of Trinidad, was in the city shopping today. Ross T. Phillips, manager of the Mayfield Co., is on the sick list. Joe Echols returned to Brownsboro this morning. Melton Botter is in Malakoff today. Smith Gauntt went to Jacksonville tins morning. Mrs. D. M. Morgan continues seriously ill and very little hopes are held for her recovery. Mrs. Chester Neice of Hubbard City is visiting her Parents, Dr. and Mrs. T. M. Matthews. Mrs. C. A. Sartain returned this morning from a several days stay in Dallas. =========================== INTEREST IN GROWING CUCUMBERS =========================== L. J. Roter of the Price-Booker Mfg. Co., was in the city again yesterday. Mr. Roter states that something like 45 acres have been pledged on cucumbers around Athens. He wants 100 acres here and is anxious to close up contracts with farmers at a good price. Saturday will wind the contracts up here and farmers who want to get in on the deal should see him at the First National Bank. Mr. Roter says the people of Malakoff are taking a great interest in the position there and that he will easily secure 100 acres. Calloway, Eustace, Ford, No. 282 =========================== EVANGELIST'S ADVANCE MAN ARRIVES Mr. G. W. Wood, wife and little daughter, arrived in the city today. Mr. Wood is advance man for Rev. Lockett Adair who will begin a union revival here Sunday, March 25. he will start a campaign in a few days for erection of the tabernacle. Mr. Wood is a former newspaper man, having conducted numerous papers in Oklahoma. =========================== ERECTING TABERNACLE From Wednesday's Daily: Workmen started this morning erecting the large tabernacle for the evangelistic meeting which will start Sunday week. The tabernacle is being built on the vacant lot adjoining the Rivers Dry Goods Company. the structure will be 80x80 with a seating capacity of approximately 1800. The choir loft will extend 60 feet across the front, leaving a ten foot entrance on either side. The committee in charge of the work want about ten more hands at once. Those who do not feel disposed to do the work voluntarily will be paid for their services. Those wanting to do the work should be on hand tomorrow morning. =========================== MARRIAGE LICENSES Judge Going and Altha Hooper. Lee Thomas and Miss Katie Anders. One request not to publish. =========================== COURT NOTES From Thursday's Daily: The case of A. B. Watkins vx. S. H. Hadley, et al., trespass to try title, is on trial today. The jury in the case of Rafe Eads, charged with burglary, returned a verdict of not guilty. =========================== BOY SCOUTS MEET FORM NEW PATROL At their meeting last Friday night, the Boy Scouts formed a bicycle patrol, with Joe LaRue as patrol leader, and MacIntosh Murchison, assistant patrol leader. The members all have wheels and will take spins in the county quite often. They will ride out the Palestine road to Koon Kreek Klub Sunday afternoon. At this meeting Joe LaRue was appointed to collect the Scout news from all over the world. Henry Morrison and Gaston Wood will get up the local news. These papers will be read each meeting night. =========================== TREAD SOFTLY HERE From Wednesday's Daily: A secret session of the Brownsboro and Murchison road board were held this morning in the county judge's office. the reporter tried to gain admission but found all the doors locked. It is learned that trouble hinges on the road leading from Brownsboro to Edom, one of the commissioners claiming that the road does not come up to the contract.
