I believe most all the farmers have their tomatoes out at last and most people are now busy picking strawberries. Doctor Moon filled his regular appointment at Martin Springs Baptist Church Sunday and Sunday night. His message was enjoyed by a very large crowd. Mr. Jerome Davis and family of Chandler were present and others. Mr. Reaves and family of Rock Hill were present. A large number from this community were visitors at Concord Sunday afternoon. They report a good singing. We celebrated Easter with an Easter Egg hunt at Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert's Sunday afternoon. It was enjoyed by all. There was also a party at Mr. and Mrs. Desmond Rashs' Saturday night and everyone seemed to have a good time and lots of fun. Miss Vellma Shelton was a visitor at Chandler this past week. There will be a singing at Martin Springs Baptist Church this coming Saturday night, April 18th, 1925. All invited to come. TOMMIE POYNOR April 17-- We have been having some dreary cloudy weather with a little rain. Quite a lot of sickness and two deaths in our community. *Mrs. W. O. Taylor of near Fincastle died suddenly Friday afternoon about 3:30. She had been in bad health for some time. Still her death came as a great shock to her many relatives and friends. **Grandma (Mrs. M. E.) Knight passed quietly away Monday night at 7:30 after week's illness and was buried in the Hopewell cemetery Tuesday morning. Mrs. W. O. Taylor was buried in the Poynor cemetery Saturday afternoon at three, surrounded by a host of relatives and friends. The ***infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Simmonds White of Frankston died Monday night and was buried in the Poynor cemetery Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock. Mrs. Lizzie Richard was taken seriously ill Monday night. W. B. Shaw of Dallas is visiting his parents, Dr. and Mrs. J. M. Shaw. Miss Willie Mae Putman visited homefolks at Baxter for the weekend. Mrs. Jewell Shuptrine of LaRue, was in our city Monday afternoon. Miss Lucile Shaw was a visitor to Nacogdoches Friday. Misses Mary Lou and Sybil Register Sislie Curtis and Bryan Hayes of LaRue visited Dr. Shaw and family Sunday night. Misses Josephine Fields, Ruth Ayers and Ruby Cooke were visitors in Poynor Sunday. Messres. Dennis Williford and Charlie Walker of LaRue, visited W. B. Shaw Sunday. Misses Margaret Butts, Lucile Shaw and Gladys Lee Messrs. Bruce Brasher, Harman and Milton Avery motored to Jacksonville Sunday. Misses Edith and Una Beard Vay Baker, Vesta Joel and Dillce Levassor of Frankston attended the Easter dinner and singing at the Christian Church Sunday. There was an Easter egg hunt at the Baptist church Sunday after the 9 o'clock Sunday school which was enjoyed by quite a nice crowd. Also the basket dinner, Easter egg hunt and singing at the Christian church was much enjoyed; plenty of good dinner and eggs for all. All the sick folks were remembered with a box of good things sent to their homes ast they were unable to attend. Cars provided to take all the old folks able to go to and from the church. SMILING SAM BAXTER April 13-- There is quite a bit of sickness around her now. Lawrene Martin was carried to the hospital at Jacksonville last Monday where he underwent an operatin. He was thought to be a little better when last heard from. Lena Deen Johnson is suffering with tonsilitis. Bro. George is having trouble with his ears this week. Mrs. R. L. Scruggs has been on the sick list this week. The baccalaureate sermon was preached for our graduates from Baxter school this year by Rev. M. L. Fuller of Athens Sunday afternoon. His message was heard and enjoyed by a large crowd. The graduation exercises will be had next Friday night followed by a play by the high school students. We are looking forward to an interesting program. Several Easter hunts were enjoyed by the different Sunday school classes Sunday afternoon after the services at the church. They were well enjoyed. There was a family reunion at the J. S. Mills home Sunday. Mrs. Frank Broom of Mexia and Misses Jeanne and Irean Mills of Waco were at home. Holland Morgan has been to Dallas visiting relatives. There were a number of "out-of-town" visitors here Sunday. Woodbury Knight who is working in Dallas was home Sunday. We did not learn how long he will stay. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Corder of near Sand Springs visited here Saturday night and Sunday. PINE HILL April 13--
