P.O. Hill Co Texas May the 27th 1872 Dear Brother and Sister,(John Dunlap and wife) I seat myself this evening to let you know that we are all well at present and hope this may find you all enjoying the same God's blessing. Henry got home the 25th of Jan and Robert come home the 19th of May. Robert is in good health, Arch come home the 20th of Feb and Arch and Sam left here for the depo in April and thought they would go to see you before they come back, we have not heard from them since they started. Olive was married on the 22 of Feb last and Mary was married the 30 of Apr 1872. Mary married W.J. Adkins and Olive married W.D. Payne Olive has moved out of the county and Mary is living over the other side of the timer. I have just been over to see her. I still live at home with Vinia, she is still the pet with mother. Father has the best crop of wheat and corn that ever has been on the place, and has gone to get a reeper to cut his wheat now. Henry is going to start out this evening, he thinks he will be gone about a month and then he will come back and start to Arkansas. Robert is going to start back home as soon as he can sell his horses and cattle. i think he will start tomorrow. Well John, as I did not finish my letter yesterday, I can rite some this evening. The reeper has come and they are cutting wheat this evening, they think they will git done tomorrow, it takes two hands to bind after it. Robert has gone, he started this morning. Henry started this evening, he has been gone about one hour now. He thinks he will find Sam and Arch at the depo and as I have not much time to rite nor not anything of much importance to write to you I will have to close by letter by hoping this will find you and family well and please write soon and often and I can write to you more particular about things in general. I have just heard from Olive and Will, they are all well but Olive is very much dissatisfied with her move and I do not know why for it was no satisfaction for her to live here for Will was in danger here. Some says he done right in what he did. I will tell you what he did. He shot Wilson for telling a ly on him and not taking it back, but Wilson is getting well, he did not kill him. This is the Wilson that lives down on the branch before us. I will close my letter for this time and try to write oftener. You must write as soon as you get this letter. Goodby for this time. Elmira Dunlap (sister of Olive Dunlap Payne )
