Elizabeth "Eliza" Martin was born April 20, 1823 (grave marker) or April 1, 
1824 (Martin family Bible) in Wilkes County or Upson County, Georgia. She was 
the daughter of Austin and Martha Gresham Martin.

On January 9, 1840, John Noah Howell married Elizabeth "Eliza" Martin in 
Upson, County, Georgia. 

John Noah Howell was born ca. 1817 in Georgia, the son of Burwell and 
Elizabeth Powell Howell. He later died ca. 1891 in Upson County.

After her husband's death, Elizabeth Martin Howell moved to Hill County, Texas 
with her son, Donaldson G. Howell, and her daughter, Miss Emily Howell. She 
died July 3, 1898 and is buried in the Bell Springs Cemetery in Hill County, 
Texas.
