Mr. Spencer lost his first companion by an unfortunate accident. Her clothing caught on fire while she was engaged in soap making; she being alone at her home at the time of this gruesome and deplorable affair. She was an affectionate wife and a devoted mother. He subsequently married Mrs. Miranda McDougal, a woman blessed with a good share of common sense, a lady of refinement and taste.
