All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** From the files of June Tuck ALEXANDER, Mr. - The Sulphur Springs Gazette reports the son of Martin Hart, aided by a man named Pickens, a connection by marriage, murdered an old man named Alexander, in that county on the 2nd instant. They rode up and asked for a drink of water, and after drinking, deliberately drew their six-shooters and shot down the old man in his own door. After the murder they mounted their horses and rode off. It is understood the difficulty originated about the rent of a piece of land. Hart is also charged with killing his father-in-law in Hill county, for which he has never been arrested. (The Weekly Enquirer, May 20, 1871, McKinney)
