All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** BRASHEAR, ALLEN - Marvin Thomas, brother of Bascom Thomas, editor of the Sulphur Springs Gazette, killed Allen Brashear of Sulphur Springs late Saturday night by cutting his throat. (Jefferson Jimplecute, Sat., Feb. 8, 1900)Later reported - June 10, 1902. The case of the State of Texas vs Marvin Thomas, transferred by change of venue from Hopkins County, is on trial today, and nearly 50 witnesses from Sulphur Springs are in attendance on court. This is the second trial of this case. The first trial was at Sulphur Springs, and the defendant was convicted of manslaughter and given two years. On June 21, 1902, it was reported Thomas had been acquitted.
